The Horry County Fire Department to stop at Aynor Town Hall for some fun and community giving.

Additionally, you can take advantage of the following community fun and giving:

Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting

Board Members

Proceedings

  • Meeting called to order at 9:33 am by VP-Cheryl Collins

Membership

  • Paulette explained the Chamber’s membership recruitment efforts and the communication outlets we use:
    • Facebook
    • Email
    • Renewal Letters and Invoices
    • Website – Membership Directory, online application, event calendar, news, Membership Spotlight
  • Membership package – Nancy made MOTION to approve money to reimburse Paulette from earlier this year to create membership packages. Cheryl seconded and passed.
  • Chamber swag: PJ to research chamber decal and promotional items like pens for membership package and give aways.
  • Membership renewal invoices were sent out.
  • Paulette made a MOTION to approve paid members as of 8/29/17.  Cheryl seconded and passed.

Harvest Hoe Down

  • Chamber to sell bags and t-shirts for Golden Market as well as promote the chamber.
  • Sally Collins to design a Aynor shirts to sale with train image on back and Aynor on the front. One color. She will also design a car window decal. Proof of artwork to be emailed to board for approval. Prices to be emailed to board for approval via email.
  • Tent purchased by Dianne Pate already. Dianne to purchase banner for tent that says “Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce”.
  • Paulette to create membership recruiting Point of Sale for booth. Will include application and “why join” table top tent.
  • Dianne to order t-shirts. Decision was made to not sale kids shirts at this time of Aynor/Train T-shirts. Ordering L and XL for only.

Christmas Parade – First Saturday of December

  • Dianne to send complete information about the Christmas Parade to Paulette. Including: updated application, event information, route and etc, Paulette will update website, Facebook and schedule emails to Chamber list.
  • Paulette to call Scott Johnson about Event Insurance. Question on whether we can have horses.
  • Questions about entry fee. Need to finalize.
  • Everyone agreed to offer trophies or ribbons for entries in multiple categories that show the most Christmas spirit. Detailed to be ironed out later.
  • Paulette sent everything she has on previous Christmas parades to Dianne, including prospect list

Board of Director Insurance

  • Paulette to call Scott Johnson about Board of Director Insurance.

Telephone

  • Paulette to set up telephone thru GoDaddy. Number will forward to Dianne until after the Christmas Parade.

What does the Chamber Do?

  • Short decision on updating the by-laws
  • Chamber’s responsibility is to promote and support business in the Aynor Area
  • The Town of Aynor responsibility is to bring people to town
  • Town of Aynor has a $7500 budget to help Town Event Committee

Membership Programs

  • Monthly programs are on hold until after the Harvest Hoe Down. Will revisit online training programs for Facebook, Quickbooks etc.

Events – Communications

  •  All events to be filtered thru Paulette to communicate. When submitting events, please include all written copy and images. Once “designed” Paulette will distribute to Website, Facebook and email.
  • Paulette to investigate EZ-Texting.

United States Air Force Heritage of American Bands Visits Aynor

On March 13, 2018 a free concert from The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band presented Rhythm in Blue, the unit’s dynamic new jazz ensemble. Many thanks to Diane Pate with the Ayor Chamber of Commerce and Aynor High School for making this event possible.

Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting

Proceedings

  • Meeting called to order at 7:33 am by President, Jeremy Johnson. March minutes were approved.

Membership

  • Voted to increase membership dues to $75 for Business and $50 for Individuals. Membership runs from March to March.
  • Deadline for renewal letter was set to 5/8/18. Dianne Pate to send out.
  • Membership Drawing – Pulling in May once renewals come in.
  • Membership Value
    • The board and attendances talked about how to bring value to the chamber. We implemented a new committee with Catherine Johnson as chair called the Member Discount Committee. It’s purpose to find member to member discounts, door prizes or any kind of discount we can offer our members. Will create a discount page on the website, a flyer for the membership package and communicate thru email, social media and text.
    • Mr. Thompson shared information about an Office Depot discount given to all chambers. A discussion came up to create membership cards to show to receive discount.
    • Ribbon Cutting for new business is something we are current working on for the the Golden Pharamacy.
    • Business After Hours is something we may explore down the road. Currently we are struggling with participation. Once we get those numbers up then we can explore.
    • Lunch and Learn. Reboot the lunch and learns from before
    • Need more volunteers

Old Business

  • Voted to have board meetings at 7:30 am moving forward. We will also have the meeting at the Senior Citizen’s Center from June on.
  • Golden Market Dates were determined to be every Saturday from 9am-12pm starting June 2nd and ending July 7th.

Upcoming Events

  • Forth of July event is July 7th. Will be similar to last year with Burnie Bret band returning.

New Business

  • Breakfast Sponsors: Palmetto Insurance is sponsoring the coffee and donuts for our May Board meeting. Aynor Family Dentist is sponsoring June Meeting. Chamber will handle getting coffee and donuts and set up table at meeting. Sponsors can bring swag to put on table. Chamber will provide advertising of sponsorship on the website, emails, facebook, text message and sponsor sign on table.

  • Meeting called to order at 7:33 am by President, Jeremy Johnson.

Membership

  • Approved new members. Motions made by Paulette Johnson. 2nd Cheryl Collins
  • Membership Spotlight for August will be Golden Town Pharmacy.
  • Catherine Johnson pursuit of membership discounts was a success. We can now offer our members 10% off advertising cost for chamber members from the Horry Independent for the Aynor Harvest Hoe Down special publication as well as for any Aynor football special section. She also completed paper work for all chamber members to receive big printing discounts at Office Depot as well was online and in house supply discounts. Will distribute discount card with membership package.

Breakfast Sponsor

August is SB Turf, September is Truman Johnson Crop insurance. Still need sponsors for the rest of the year. Anderson Brother’s Bank was unable to attend July meeting for their sponsorship and spotlight.

Sign Sponsorship

Jeremy to make contact with a possible sponorship/membership in return for banners and yard signs for chamber events. Sizes are as follows:

  • Christmas Vinyl banner – 6’x12′ x4
  • Christmas Yard Signs: 2′ x3′ x 10
  • Golden Market Banner – 6’x12′ x4
  • Golden Market yard Signs: 2′ x3′ x 10
  • Membership Decals: 50

Ribbon Cutting

  • Golden Town Pharmacy – July 28th. Cheryl to represent Chamber. Everything is in place including Horry independent coverage. Dianne to take pics.
  • Better Bins would like a ribbon cutting during the Aynor Harvest Hoe Down. However, we feel we do not have enough man power to coordinate that event plus run our booth. Dianne to let them know.

Christmas Parade

  • Will be held every first Saturday in December at 10 am. We will create generic creative to reuse each year to cut cost. No Christmas tree lighting this year. We will have a best float contest. Need price, judges and trophies. We will be charging $25 per entry. It is still free to non-profit organizations that benefit children. Horses are still allowed. Goodson Construction has donated tree that we will decorate for the park.
  • Christmas Cloth Banners for 8th Avenue Poles. Cheryl or Dianne to talk to city about promoting events with pole banners down 8th Ave. We can do creative and town pay for materials.

Old Business

  • Fundraising
    • Possible Aynor Bluegrass Band festival of some sort.
    • Possible Christmas Tour.
    • Dunking Booth at Aynor Hoe Down. Will pursue if we can recruit people to dunk. Ideas: Mayor, Football coach, Penny Skipper, Will revisit next meeting
